Iori by Horii Shichimeien - Incense - Horii Shichimeien

This is a very special incense from Japan, made by Horii Shichimeien with the renowned incense house Shoyeido. The scent opens with sandalwood and settles onto a heart of patchouli, deep and green, with hinoki and other woods adding warmth and a touch of Japanese pepper (sansho) lifting the finish. The incense fills a room slowly and never turns sharp or heavy.

Seen from the side, each stick is shaped into the seven sides of Horii Shichimeien's logo. The slightly uneven geometry is intentional, drawn from a long-held idea in tea that balance holds a measure of imperfection.

Iori is Horii Shichimeien's newer line, built around the image of a small tea hermitage within modern life. Its name comes from fueki-ryūkō, a Japanese idea of keeping the timeless and the new in harmony, carrying centuries of Uji tea culture into a form made for the present.
