Opal Tea Glass

This Japanese glassware company was established in 1899 in Kinshicho, Tokyo. They started production by using a glassblowing method called Katabuki, a technique that uses a mold which allows to produce extremely light and thin glasses.

In an effort to preserve and strengthen traditional Japanese glassware styles and techniques,  this collection recreates a popular style during the Taisho period. This glass is made by hand using a rare and difficult technique called Aburidashi. Originated during the Meiji period, this technique utilizes special raw materials that include ash to create opalescent white patterns on the surface of the glass. The color is produced when the material is exposed to sudden changes in temperature during the heating and cooling of the molding process.

This glassware is perfect for drinking any type of beverage. The pattern is revealed when drinking anything colorful.
