Sori Yanagi Colander

The Sori Yanagi Stainless Steel Colander is a practical kitchen tool designed for daily use. It is made from food-grade stainless steel with small punched holes that allow water to drain quickly while preventing ingredients from getting caught the way they often do in mesh strainers. The solid construction makes it durable and easy to rinse clean, and it is dishwasher safe. The sizes are carefully proportioned to work comfortably with Sori Yanagi mixing bowls, making rinsing and straining feel natural during prep. Smaller sizes are well suited for washing berries or small fruits, while the larger ones handle pasta, vegetables, and other cooking tasks with ease.

Sōri Yanagi was a Japanese industrial designer who helped shape modern Japanese design in the years after World War II. His work focused on creating objects that are simple, practical, and comfortable to use, often drawing from the sensibilities of traditional Japanese craft while embracing modern production. The stainless steel bowl and colander series received the Good Design Award in 1999 and remains one of his most widely recognized kitchen designs.
