Sori Yanagi Colander

This Japanese colander, designed by Sōri Yanagi, is a practical kitchen tool for daily use. It is made from food-grade stainless steel. Small punched holes drain water quickly and keep ingredients from getting caught, as they often do in mesh strainers. The solid construction is durable and easy to rinse clean. Each size is proportioned to work with Sori Yanagi mixing bowls, so rinsing and straining feel natural during prep. Smaller sizes suit berries and small fruits. Larger sizes handle pasta, vegetables, and other cooking tasks.

Sori Yanagi was a Japanese industrial designer who helped shape modern Japanese design after World War II. His objects are simple, practical, and comfortable to use. They draw on traditional Japanese craft while embracing modern production. His stainless steel bowl and colander series won the Good Design Award in 1999 and remains one of his best-known kitchen designs.
