Polish Pottery Soap Dish - White

This Polish pottery soap dish holds a bar of soap by the sink or bath. Raised ridges and drainage holes in the base let water run off so the bar dries out between uses instead of sitting in a puddle. Ceramic craft in Bolesławiec goes back to the medieval period, but it flourished in the 18th century with a new method of stamping intricate patterns over a white base. The style made Bolesławiec pottery sought after across Europe, even in royal courts. Today the maker produces hundreds of forms and thousands of patterns, each piece finished by hand using eco-glaze and cadmium- and lead-free paints.
