Japanese Tea Pot - Decorative Handle

This Japanese tea pot features a flat and round body ideal for easily removing and inserting tea leaves. The protrusion on the handle adds a subtle design flair and aids in a stronger grip no matter the dominant hand.

This collection of Japanese tea pots, or Kyusu, are handcrafted in Japan by artisan craftsmen from the city of Tokoname, in the Aichi prefecture. Since the Edo Period (1603 - 1867), Tokoname has been a famed center for high-quality, artistic pottery. Each teapot is balanced, beautiful, and a pleasure to use, making it an essential and ideal tool for brewing loose leaf tea. Crafted out of special red clay from old rice fields and left unglazed, the teapots influence the flavor of the tea as it brews: the clay’s high-porosity results in a large surface area that releases more natural iron into the tea, reducing the tannins in the tea to remove some bitterness and produce a smoother finish.
