Incense - Oud Ryugen

This is a unique aloeswood incense made in the Shiga prefecture from all natural ingredients, and is used at well regarded temples in Shiga and Kyoto. Incense is traditionally used at Japanese Buddhist temples as an offering, an air purifier, and an aid for meditation. For example, monks use incense as a way to structure and time their meditation.

This incense is made of high quality resins of aloeswood, also known as agarwood, oud, or jinko in Japan, which roughly translates to “water-sinking incense” due to the weight of the resin in the wood. As the resin ages, the scent becomes purer and more pungent which also determines the price of the material.
