These Korean porcelain figurines are created by a husband and wife team in the forests of Jeju island. Each creation is taken from their imagination, telling stories composed of one or two characters with beautiful execution and craftsmanship. They toe the line between reality and fantasy, reminiscent of antique porcelain dolls but with a slightly contemporary touch. The process of making each figurine takes over a month, from initial sketch to final product and requires significant expertise in porcelain making, as well as attention to detail in the painterly style and creative tales they tell.
Item details: In a dream-like fantasy a child rides on the back of a sparrow. Minute details are painted onto the still porcelain surface, making it look like the young girls hair is blowing in the wind.
