Sencha - Nyu

A long-time bestseller for over 30 years, Nyu is known for its smooth, easy-drinking profile. It has a strong roasted hazelnut aroma, with notes of toasted grain and a hint of sweetness. The flavor is mellow and rounded, with low bitterness and a clean finish. A reliable everyday tea that’s both comforting and satisfying.

Uogashi Meicha's tea was born when founder Tadashi Tsuchiya met Heizaburo Yamamoto, the innovator behind the deep-steaming technique for tea production. Post-World War II, Tsuchiya traveled in search of exceptional tea and encountered Yamamoto in Shizuoka. Impressed by Yamamoto's craftsmanship in deep-steamed tea, they collaborated to refine and introduce this distinctive style of tea, initially at Tokyo's Tsukiji market.

During that time, the market was flooded with low-quality deep-steamed teas characterized by a powdery green liquid color but lacking in flavor. Despite these challenges, Uogashi Meicha remains dedicated to delivering authentic tea distinguished by its vibrant golden-yellow hue, achieved through meticulous deep-steaming and expert firing techniques. They prioritize crafting teas with unique character, appealing to discerning tea enthusiasts who appreciate robust flavors and aromas.

Premium tea leaves that win competitions are nearly colorless and transparent. Because of their light appearance, one might expect a weak flavor and aroma, but they offer a full-bodied taste and delicate fragrance without bitterness. Uogashi Meicha's teas brew into a golden yellow color, reflecting the essence of premium Japanese tea leaves and the craftsmanship behind their deep-steamed brews.
