Crafted by a 9th generation artisan based in Hasami, in the Nagasaki prefecture, this rice bowl is made from the highest quality kaolin clay, sourced from Amakusa, in the Kysuhu prefecture, and fired in the third-oldest kiln in Hasami, constructed in 1905. It has a "Dohai" glaze finish, a natural glaze that contains iron from various tree ashes which causes the dark specks on the rice bowl.
