Though ceramic craft in Boleslawiec began during the medieval period, it only began to truly flourish in the 18th century, with the introduction of a new decoration method that used a brown glaze to create intricate patterns over a white ceramic base. This style of decoration made Boleslawiec ceramics well-regarded and highly desired throughout all of Europe, even in the royal courts. Today, this Polish ceramic maker produces 600 forms and 2500 ornamental patterns—a testament to the company’s craftsmanship and potential. Every piece is hand-decorated with the traditional stamp method, using eco-glaze, as well as cadmium and lead free paints.
