This vintage blue French net cotton bag is made using the same essential structure as they were in the 17th century, where peasants in Normandy made use of them for hunting and fishing. In 1860 these workers founded a company to specialize in making nets for the food industry and in commercial fishing and hunting. Over the years the netting began to be used to carry smaller loads to and from markets. Designed to support the huge hauls of fish pulled in on fishermens boats, these bags are extremely strong and perfect for groceries or carrying wet towels and swimming suits.
