Korean Bronzeware Deep Plate M

Bangjja, also known as Yugi, is a traditional type of hand-forged Korean bronzeware. A symbol of purity, its unique material composition makes it self-sterilizing and naturally disinfectant, with the color and patina of the bronze revealing any impurities, such as pesticides. Bangjja was traditionally used as tableware for royal families and the King himself, since its discoloration would detect any hidden poisons. In addition to its historical importance, Bangjja is an exceptional tableware for everyday use. Its bronze composition provides it with a semi-permanent robustness and also acts as an exceptional heat conductor, helping to maintain the temperature of both hot and cold dishes for a long period of time. This collection is handcrafted by third generation Ingan-munhwage, human cultural assets recognized by the government as having achieved the extremely high level ability necessary to make one of the important intangible cultural properties of Korea. A complete set of Bangjja includes dishes, bowls, spoons, and chopsticks.
