This Kaoru porcelain bowl is made in the region of Imari in the Saga prefecture of Japan. Imari is renowned for its production of a particular stype of porcelain-ware called Arita-yaki. The porcelain stone is specific to the region, and creates the signature white of the bowl. Another unique feature of Arita-yaki is the ‘Gosu’ (“呉須”), a blue-green pigment which is used for the delicate brush strokes running around the rim of the bowl, and the foot. The bowl is perfect for rice, soups and noodle dishes too.
Measurements: H: 3.5" D: 5.75"
Care instructions: Although this is dishwasher and microwave safe, we recommend washing by hand to ensure the bowl lasts as long as possible and to reduce the risk of chipping the fine porcelain rim.
