Handcrafted using traditional Japanese joinery — without nails or adhesives — this tray is made from solid Kiso Hinoki, harvested from trees over 200 years old. Kiso Hinoki is regarded as the finest grade of Japanese cypress, prized for its exceptionally fine, even grain, warm pale tone, and natural antibacterial and water-resistant properties that make it especially suited to the bathroom.
The tray is designed to hold two compatible porcelain soap dishes side by side, each resting within the frame so water drains cleanly through the open slats below. The pairing of softly grained wood and smooth white porcelain is a study in quiet contrast — the warmth of centuries-old timber against the cool clarity of glazed ceramic.
Over time, the Hinoki develops a deepening patina and releases its signature soft, woody fragrance — a material that ages with grace rather than wear. An object made to be used daily, and to become more beautiful for it.
