These special glass coffee drippers are produced by using traditional glass blowing techniques by a glass manufacturer that originally produces laboratory equipments such as beakers and flasks. The company was founded in 1912 in the downtown area of Tokyo, where many historic and experienced craftspeople reside until this day.
Each piece comes with a flannel filter, where the term ‘Nel Brew’ derived from. This coffee brewing method that became quite popular in Japan may require some extra work, but produces a distinct and interesting flavor profile.
For the first time use, rinse the filter with hot water then run cold water to cool it down. Squeeze the water with a clean dish towel, then it’s ready to use. Rinse the filter with warm water quickly after use, then keep them wet in a filtered water in the fridge.
