Small Ceramic Dish - Mokko

These petite plates are called Mame Zara in Japanese, which literally translates as “bean dish.” Mame Zara have a variety of functions, but are most commonly used for condiments or appetizers as a part of traditional Kaiseki meals. Made in Hasami, a city in the Nagasaki prefecture renowned for its ceramics, by the 9th generation artisan studio, Shiratake Gama, these Mame Zara come in seven different shapes: plum flower, dandelion, sunflower, cut-cucumber, gourd, fan, and peach. The pattern transfer technique used for these dishes makes each pattern and dish a unique piece.
