Watering Can

As watering gardens back in the days was all done by hand, there was a clear need for a good range of watering cans. John Haws of Clapton, London obtained a patent for an improved watering pot in 1886. The new invention was much easier to carry and tip, and at the same time being much cleaner.
When the founder’s nephew took over the business in the early 1900’s he faced stiff competition from companies imitating their original design. To meet it he perfected the design of the roses, both oval and round, which made it more suitable for watering newly sown seeds, delicate seedlings and small plants. This feature of the cans also remains as important now as it was then.
