Red Circle Dish

This hand thrown porcelain dish from Hasami, in the Nagasaki prefecture is called Aka Maru, meaning Red Circle in Japanese. The dish goes through 7 different processes to complete including 3 firings – bisque, glaze and finally overglazing.

Made from the high quality Amakusa kaolin porcelain, the dish was modeled after an antique Imari yaki, which is a type of Arita ware.
