Aderia, derived from the name of the Adriatic Sea, known as one of the birthplaces of glass, started in Japan as a manufacturer of glass bottles in 1819. With the economic growth in the 1960's the business expanded to producing glass tableware. People's interest towards the western culture lead to decorative glassware such as the 'Luc' series, which became popular among cafes and hotels at the time. Over time the series was once discontinued as people preferred simpler designs. The amber colored glass was originally made from recycled beer glasses, however the company halted that production in use of better glass for clearer transparency.
